Royal Marine Hotel – North Highland Trio

North Highland Trio

Included in the Top 100 Best Places to Stay in Britain in 2023 by The Times.

A warm Highland welcome awaits you at the Royal Marine Hotel in Brora. Located only an hour from Inverness along the North Coast 500, visit our charming Highland hotel to unwind and play golf on the golden east coast of Scotland.

Breathe in the fresh, clear sea air when you arrive and wander along the empty strips of golden sand just five minutes away from the hotel. Listen to the waves crash against the shoreline and embrace the gentle pace of our coastal Highland village.

The Highlands is celebrated for its world-renowned golf courses. East Sutherland is no exception to this rule and there are plenty of fantastic clubs to choose from near Brora. Golfers from across the world visit us every year to tee off whilst enjoying the beautiful Highland surroundings and crisp sea air.

Brora Golf Club
Located just a few minutes’ walk from the Hotel. Established in 1891, the 18-hole course was redesigned by James Braid, the five times Open Champion and prolific designer of golf courses, including Gleneagles and Carnoustie.

As a traditional seaside links course, you’ll need every club in your bag to reach the 18th hole. And watch out for the Highland cows who like to venture onto the green from time to time!

Golspie Golf Club
A slightly kinder course than Brora, Golspie Golf Club was another one of James Braid’s wonderful creations that combines classic links, heath and parkland holes.

Tain Golf Club
Shares the same beautiful setting as the Royal Dornoch Golf Club, with views of the rugged Dornoch Firth from another angle. Designed by Scottish golfing pioneer Old Tom Morris, the layout suits beginners and experts alike and thanks to the location, the course enjoys shelter from the weather, seldom requiring the use of winter greens.

A short ten-minute drive from our hotel, golfers can spend a leisurely day on the green and enjoy the scenic backdrops of the Dornoch Firth and Ben Bhraggie.

For the non golfers, explore the best of what Brora has to offer and discover our fascinating history as the previous electric city and industrial capital of the north. Journey inland to discover beautiful Scottish lochs and rivers, energising walks and hikes, an abundance of thriving wildlife, picturesque castles, historic golf courses and local distilleries.

Spend your days on the beach or exploring the great outdoors before relaxing each night with drams of your dreams.
